Stanley and his wife Annette have lived in the Mount Prospect area since 1967. Stanley was originally born in Poland, but was displaced as a child with his family to Uzbekistan during WWII.
He lived in both Palestine and England, and ultimately came to New York in 1954 aboard the Mauretania at the age of 24. After continuing his education in the United States, he began working for Greeley & Hansen, a civil engineering firm who transferred him to their Chicago office, where he met his wife.
He was employed there for 35 years. Later, he worked for and retired (in his seventies) from the civil engineering firm of Alfred Benesch and Co. Though providing for his family was always his first priority, Stanley was passionate about music and the fine arts and enjoyed performing in and attending theater productions.
He was a genius at Pinochle and Scrabble, and enjoyed playing both with family and friends, remaining competitive even through his last days. He passed on his love of music, the arts, gardening, swimming, cards, and math to his children and grandchildren. He is a role model of persistence and survival, dedication, love and commitment to all who are left behind. May he rest in peace.
